I Am a Horsewoman
I Am a Horsewoman
I am a horsewoman filled with grace and grit
I wonder what we’ll discover today
I hear a soft whicker in the distance
I see a black mane and tale, white star and legs, soft, dark eye
I want to strive for feel, timing and balance
I am a horsewoman filled with grace and grit
I pretend I am back in the old days, traveling in a saddle
I feel the hard bit in my warm, open heart
I touch a finger to mane and stoke down and through
I worry about nothing knowing confidence is preparation
I cry out to the heavens and thank Creator for his gift
I am a horsewoman filled with grace and grit
I understand my horse, see his spirit, dance and move as one making the wrong thing difficult and the right thing easy
I say let’s go, boy and make new memories
I dream of riding up mountains and through creeks, able to recognize the smallest change, realize thought with purpose gives the horse direction
I try to push his potential, knowing the little things make a big difference
I hope for only his best try, the slightest try, so I can give the quickest release
I am a horsewoman filled with grace and grit
